Welcome
to the website of the Bureau for Intellectual Property of the Netherlands Antilles, located on Curacao.
The Bureau for Intellectual Property, BIP for short, is the national administrative corporation that provides a central mechanism to enable rightholders to exercise their intellectual property rights adequately and in accordance with national and international standards, also facilitating compliance with the national laws on intellectual property. Intellectual Property comprises both industrial property rights and copyright.
Intellectual Property, as part of the legal system of the Netherlands Antilles, is meant to provide protection for a natural and legal person against infringement of rights.
The most developed areas of service of BIP are registration of trademarks, registration of patents, book registration and legal advice in the field of copyright. i-Envelope, recently initiated in September of 2001, is a growing service also provided by BIP.
It is in the interest of individuals, corporations, the community and the nation to protect products of their intellect. It is important to note that all constitutional provisions are in place. Our efforts to provide optimum service resulted in the creation of this website, giving you access to more information about Intellectual Property in general and of the different services currently rendered by BIP.
Besides that one can also fill out certain forms online, e.g. the trademark form. The copyright section provides information on how your copyright is protected and you can also find the informative column on copyright published on a monthly base, called "Info Copyright". Please feel free to explore our online database (for members only), making it easier for you to check up on existing trademarks.
BIP is a learning organization with a mission to provide fast and high quality service.
Our personnel will be very happy to attend to you at our office located at Berg Carmelweg 10-A on Curacao for any additional information required. Or feel free to contact us online.
Thank you for visiting the BIP website.
